Nip do Brasil has been awarded the contracts for the Elaboration of the Study and Project of Electrical Energy Distribution Networks in the entire South and Southwest of the State of Bahia.

Ingeniería, Estudios y Projetos NIP,S.A, through its subsidiary Nip do Brasil, signed in September 2017 the contracts for the Elaboration of the Study and Project of Electricity Distribution Networks throughout the South and Southwest of the State of Bahia for the Companhia de Electricidad do Estado de Bahia (Coelba), a company of the Neoenergia group and the third largest electricity distributor in the country.

The growth within Brazil is one of the strategic goals of NIP, S.A. with projects in the states of Rio Grande do Norte, Espírito Santo, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Goiás. In addition, NIP, S.A. is also present in Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia, thus consolidating its presence in Latin America.



NIP, S.A. Branch Bolivia signs a contract of more than 1 million dollars for the supervision of the project “Massive update of cadastral records in the municipality of Santa Cruz de la Sierra”, after being the winner with the best technical score of a demanding international public tender of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Santa Cruz de la Sierra is the most populated city in Bolivia with more than 2 million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, and is currently considered the economic center of the country. It is divided into 22 urban districts and 3 rural districts, and is made up of 10 concentric rings, each 1 to 2 km away from each other, and 27 radial rings that start from the first ring to cross the entire city.

This new project entrusted to NIP, S.A. by the Executing Unit of the Municipal Management Improvement Program (Unidad Ejecutora del Programa de Mejora de Gestión Municipal, UEP) from the Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, is added to the previous projects of Cadastral Supervision, also entrusted to NIP, S.A. in the last 2 years, within the same program, in the most important municipalities of Bolivia:

  • Municipal Autonomous Government of El Alto.
  • Municipal Autonomous Government of Sacaba.
  • Municipal Autonomous Government of Sucre.
  • Municipal Autonomous Government of Oruro.
  • Municipal Autonomous Government of Cochabamba.

The scope of these works includes the Supervision, Monitoring, Quality Control and Approval of:

  • LIDAR airborne flight and point cloud of the 70,000 Has of the consolidated urban area.
  • Classification of the density of points corresponding to the cartographic elements according to the catalogue of cartographic elements based on ISO/TC 211 N 834. and associated metadata based on ISO 19115.
  • Obtaining the volumetric base cartography of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra to present the 3D map at 1:1000 scale.
  • Digitalization and conversion of the existing graphic information from the OTPR system to WGS-84, linked to the cadastral theme of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
  • Massive works for the update of the graphical delimitation of the properties, roads, etc. object of survey.
  • Creation of the database (alphanumeric) of the Updated Cadastral Registry, complemented with information from other sources, such as the RUAT, digital system of the cadastral file, and information of law and object in the services (light, water, etc.).
  • Integration of the Geographical Databases and Data in a data repository (Data Warehouse) and validation of the integration of the cadastral information in the Geographical Information System (GIS) of the Municipal Autonomous Government.

The project will be executed in a period of 12 months, applying the methodological processes developed by NIP, S.A. in the supervision of cadastral projects and will have the participation of a highly qualified multidisciplinary team made up of engineers in cartography and geodesy, experts in photogrammetry and LIDAR technology, cadastral engineers, architects, experts in geographic information systems and other specialized technicians.



With the arrival of natural gas in Madrid at the end of the eighties came the fuel that has done the most in all this time to improve the quality of the air we breathe and for sure it will continue to do so for many years to come.

What qualities can natural gas be proud of to have carried out this work?

According to data from the GASNAM Association, it reduces to almost ZERO the emission of the reference pollutants for air quality that affect our health, reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 85%, and eliminates 96% of the solid particles P.M. emissions. In addition, it contributes to mitigating the greenhouse effect by completely eliminating sulphur (SO2) emissions and reducing (CO) and (CO2) emissions by up to 25%. On the other hand, natural gas engines produce up to 50% less noise and vibration emissions than diesel vehicles.

Their first and great contribution was the great expansion to all districts of Madrid so that they could have natural gas to heat the homes, giving welfare to the existing houses that until then had what was called the “black heat” (electric radiators and bottles of butane and propane that always ran out when you needed them most) and providing almost all new houses with safe and efficient heaters.

As for the other major pollutant, transport, natural gas has been helping for many years, starting with public transport and now being essential for the use of most private vehicles.

In February 1993, Gas Natural, IVECO-PEGASO, and the Regional Transport Consortium signed an agreement to develop a prototype of Ecobus designed specifically for the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) of Madrid. There are 2050 EMT vehicles, of which 62.63% run on natural gas, and it plans to acquire 940 more buses powered by natural gas and 78 by electricity (

With regards to the garbage collection trucks, all of them run on natural gas, taking advantage of the nights because of the low noise they make. NIPSA began its activity with Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) in 2004 building and maintaining these facilities for the loading of these trucks.

In the taxi sector, natural gas had an important role in the transformations of the Toyota Prius, giving these cars deposits of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and, at present, also with the new models of Seat León homologated for taxis, where the acceptance of this sector has been total, finishing with all the stocks of vehicles.

In the sector of merchandise (vans), more and more the big companies like Seur, Amazon, bet for natural gas.

The Volkswagen group has also opted for CNG with models in Seat, Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda. Fiat is also betting on CNG models. All these cars also have the advantage that, if the gas runs out, they automatically drive with gasoline, which means that they are the vehicles with the most autonomy in the market.

And after all this, what more can they offer?

Well, yes, they are those who save more money, 30% more than diesel and 50% more than gasoline. With 20 € you can do 275 kilometres with petrol, 375 kilometres with diesel and 555 kilometres with CNG. In addition, all vehicles that use natural gas have the ECO label of the Directorate General of Traffic. The new air quality and climate change plan that is in place in Madrid makes this the option with the most advantages since, in any scenario of restrictions, you can use it and you can also go away in peace on weekends or holidays knowing that it will never leave you in the ditch. Moreover, they also enjoy a 50% reduction when parking and a 75% reduction in the IVTM.

Where can you refuel?

There are currently 66 natural gas stations operating in Spain and 11 in Portugal. If you plan well your trips, you can travel around the peninsula consuming 80% natural gas. Do the math and you’ll be surprised with the savings.

The GASNAM website contains a map that positions all service stations, which links to Google Maps, and in this way you can schedule your trips using only natural gas as fuel.

Ingeniería, Estudios y Proyectos NIP, S.A. has accompanied the implementation of NGV in Spain since its inception more than 15 years ago, since 2004, offering a quality service “turnkey” in each project (Engineering, Construction and Maintenance).

It has made compression stations for several fleets of garbage collection trucks, urban buses, and particulars in several cities and municipalities of Spain, standing out for its number and size those made in Madrid both for use of fleets of buses and trucks and private use, in which the City Council has ceded the land for a space of time, to promote the use of NGV.

In its Strategic Plan for the next three years, NIPSA focuses on maintaining and continuing to grow in the mobility sector and especially in NGV, both in LNG plants and CNG.

Ingenieria Estudios y Proyectos NIP, S.A. (NIPSA) has begun developing business on the East Coast of the U.S., providing electrical engineering services for substations and power lines to various utilities.

The United States has an important development of new Transmission and Distribution lines, having spent more than 160 billion dollars between 2013 and 2016, foreseeing an annual growth in the investment figure of 6%.

NIP, S.A. has sealed an important strategic alliance with CASCO SYSTEMS LLC, an American engineering company specialized in protection, automation and control. Together, we offer a high quality electrical engineering service for power generation and commercialization companies in the United States.

Last week, our Director of Engineering and Construction Ignacio Juan Revilla Fernandez gave a keynote speech on “Turnkey Mobility” at Motortec 2019, the leading international congress for the automotive industry in Spain. We would like to thank the Spanish Confederation of Service Station Businessmen (Confederación Española de Empresarios de Estaciones de Servicios, CEEES) for giving us this opportunity to participate. One more bet of Ingeniería Estudios y Proyectos NIP, S.A. (NIPSA) to promote Sustainable Mobility and the Environment.



NIP, S.A. has obtained in 2018 a notable reduction of accidents with sick leave with respect to 2017 with the following results:

  • The incidence rate (representing the number of accidents with sick leave occurring during the working day per 100,000 workers exposed to risk) in 2018 fell by 37% with respect to 2017, from 9.00 to 5.66.

  • The severity rate (representing the number of days lost per 1000 hours of work) in 2018 has been reduced with respect to 2017 by 88%, going from 0.34 to 0.04.

  • The frequency rate (the number of accidents per million hours worked) in 2018 fell by 36% in comparison with 2017, from 5.03% to 3.21%.

This significant improvement was possible thanks to the involvement of the workforce in our prevention management system. We will continue to work with the objective of making the prevention of occupational risks an inherent part of our daily work, without falling into routine and without lowering our guard, because “ZERO TOLERANCE” should prevail in the workplace accident rate.

Ingeniería Estudios y Proyectos NIP, S. A. has completed the installation of the new gas purification system for UCB Cast Profill S.A. at its facilities in Villanueva de Gállego (Zaragoza).

NIP, S.A. has carried out the turnkey project for the replacement of the smoke purification system of two (2) induction furnaces, including an axial cyclone pre-separator, a sleeve filter, a fan, and a chimney, for the purification of a flow of more than 86,000 m3/h.

The project was carried out in a very short period of time in order to optimise production to the maximum, taking advantage of a programmed shutdown of the plant, and using the space of the purification system to be replaced, with a lower purification flow than the new one, and with an important restriction in height. This optimisation of space has been possible thanks to the horizontal sleeve technology of LUEHR FILTER, which allows a reduction of the space to be used and the flow of gas to be treated.

Since April 1, 2009, NIP, S.A. is the exclusive partner for Spain and Portugal of the technologist of gas purification systems based on LUEHR FILTER sleeve filters.

LUEHR FILTER is a German company which, since 1938, has been developing its own technology in the design, manufacture and assembly of air purification installations, guaranteeing the most demanding quality standards. It currently has a significant presence on all five continents.

Engineering Studies and Projects NIP, S.A. (NIPSA) has been the successful bidder of two new projects in the range of engineering services to develop the Drinking Water Network and the Transport and Distribution of Energy, both in ANGOLA.

NIP,S.A is developing the detailed engineering for Viana and Gabela 220/66kV substations for ANGOLA’s Transport and Distribution network, including the electrical and control engineering, as well as sundry power flows studies and electrical calculations focus on the optimisation of the design, keeping the highest quality standards.

Similarly, NIP, S.A. is developing basic and detailed engineering and a constructive project for the drinking water network in the city of Dundo, which includes, among other things, the following activities: topological definition, preparation of a mathematical model of the network, allocation of streams, etc.

With these projects, NIP, S.A. strengthens its presence in Angola, due to its long experience in the transport and distribution of energy in the country and its knowledge of the water network, where it has been working through its subsidiary NIPSA.PEC more than 10 years.
